A silent vigil on Saturday 26, 2011

The Netherlands takes a moment of silence to observe the events in Japan, by holding a silent walk
and vigil in Amsterdam.


On Saturday 26th of March a silent vigil will be held in Amsterdam to commemorate the victims in
... Japan. This event is organized by the collaborative efforts of “JAPAN Helpen Kan” which is working in
association of several other parties to raise funds for the Japanese Red Cross.


Attendance will be by members of the Japanese Chamber of Commerce, Dutch & Japanese Trade
Federation, Mayor of Amsterdam and Amstelveen, Japanese Ambassador, as well as CEO’s from
several local Japanese companies, sport associations, and Japanese community in hopes to express
to Japan and the World the up most sympathises for the current crisis.


Meeting for this silent vigil will be on the 26 March 20:00 at the Spui with a procession to the Dam
square. Once there, attending parties will briefly address the public.


A special monument of a large Crane Origami made and donated by FabLab Amsterdam will also be
shown during the vigil to honor those effected in Japan.

Is a collective that aims to spread awareness and promote several events in order to collect funds
for the Japanese Red Cross by means of the account opened by the Japanese Chambre or Commerce
earlier this week.
